Traveling Information



    Climate

  • Summer temperatures:
    October - March (50-90F). This is also our rainy season.
  • Winter temperatures:
    April - September (40-70F).


    Firearms and Caliber

    Big 5
    (Buffalo, Rhino, Elephant, Lion, Leopard)
  • a legal minimum of .375 caliber.

    Plains Game:
  • .30 - .375 caliber is recommended.

    Telescope:
  • A good quality variable power telescope in the 3.9 x 40 will suffice for most hunting conditions.
  • Ammunition:
  • Plains Game hunting
    a minimum of 40 soft-nosed bullets are recommended.
  • Buffalo, Rhino and Elephant
    a minimum of 40 full metal jacket/solids are recommended in addition
    to soft-point bullets.
  • Lion and Leopard:
    soft-nosed bullets are recommended
  • NB:

    · Importation of semi-automatic rifles and -shotguns are illegal.

    · No two rifles/shotguns of the same caliber per hunter.

    · One soft case per rifle, it is a legal requirement for traveling between
    hunting concessions.


    Trophy handling:

  • All animals will be skinned and field-prepared by our very experienced skinners, marked, salted and dried prior to being sent to a recommended taxidermist for “dip & ship” or mounting.

  • Personal:

    · Personal medical kit: include any prescriptions and medication

    · sun block - minimum SPF 30

    · mosquito repellent

    · pair of sunglasses

    · toiletries

    · Additional equipment

    · small day pack

    · flashlight with spare batteries

    · binoculars and camera with spare film and batteries

    · pocketknife
     


    Payments:

    · We do not accept credit cards.

    · Traveler’s cheques and Cash are welcome


    Electricity:

  • Standard power source is 200/230V AC. Converter is required.

  • Immunization

    · No international immunization is needed when entering South Africa.

    · Inoculation against yellow fever might be required from delegates for some African countries (please inquire from Ryno or Alex)


    Malaria

    · Discuss malaria medication with your doctor before departing.
